Missouri Hall of Fame To Honor MBU National Champions (January 22, 2007)

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame will recognize several Missouri teams during its 2007 Enshrinement Ceremony on Sunday, February 11 who won National Championships during the 2006 season. Included in the ceremony will be MBU’s Indoor and Outdoor Women’s Track & Field Teams. The MBU Track & Field Team won the NAIA National Championship in both Indoor and Outdoor competition in just their second year since being reinstated. Wrestling Qualifies Two More Wrestlers For Nationals (January 22, 2007)

The Missouri Baptist University Men’s Wrestling Team traveled to the University of Central Missouri to compete in the Roger Denker Open this past Saturday . Perennial NCAA Division I powerhouses Oklahoma University and University of Missouri were present as was 2-time NAIA National Champion and host team Lindenwood University. The Spartans faired well with four wrestlers placing in the top six of their respected weight class. Placing third in their respected weight classes were sophomore Nathaniel Troupe (149 lbs. class) of Kana, Idaho, and Nigel Kinworthy (184) of St. Charles, Missouri. Track & Field Opens Season at UCM Invite (January 20, 2007)

The Missouri Baptist Track & Field squad traveled to the University of Central Missouri Friday night to compete in the Central Missouri Invitational. The Spartans walked away with 10 event wins on the night. Leading the charge for MBU was Gentell Sykes. Sykes won the 60 meter hurdles (8.18) and the 200 meter dash (22.65) in National qualifying performances along with running a leg on the winning distance medley relay. Steve Bender and Anthony Freeman earned event wins and National qualifying performances in the mile (4:23.99) and the 600 yard dash in (1:14.40) along with joining Sykes and Kenneth Kibii…

Wrestling First Wrestling Dual Win Of The Season (January 18, 2007)

The Missouri Baptist University Men’s Wrestling Team won their first dual meet of the season as they narrowly squeaked by the Bulldogs of Truman State University 23-20. The dual meet win also gives the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University a 1-0 record at home this season. The dual started at the 125-pound match that pitted MBU junior Michael Aitch (Kirkwood, MO) against Truman’s Kazuyuki Hashimoto. Aitch came out firing and scored a pin fall for the Spartans with 42 seconds left in the first period. The Bulldogs of Truman retaliated by winning the 133-pound match by pin fall and the…

Spartan Wrestlers Finish 17th at Midwest Classic (January 8, 2007)

The Missouri Baptist University Men’s Wrestling Team traveled this past weekend to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in the Midwest Classic. The two day event was hosted by the University of Indianapolis. Many great NCAA Division II and III schools were on hand not to mention other NAIA schools. The Spartans placed 17th out of the 24 team tournament. Placing for the Spartans were senior Jared Bonnell (Farmington, MO) in the 285-pound weight class, sophomore Nathanial Troupe (Kuna, ID) at 149, and sophomore Cody Rouse (Jackson, MO) at 157 respectively.
