MBU to Induct Joe Wasser into Athletic Hall of Fame

Missouri Baptist University Director of Athletics, Thomas Smith, has announced the induction of Mr. Joe Wasser into the MBU Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2006.

Coach Wasser arrived on the campus of Missouri Baptist University in 1984 as the first ever volleyball coach. In his inaugural season, he managed to lead the team to a respectable 15-17 record and had two student-athletes named to the All-Conference Team. Coach Wasser then began a stretch of four 20+ win seasons with strong recruiting and great leadership. In 1985, Coach Wasser led the Lady Spartans to a 39-7 record and the school’s first conference championship. He did this while defeating every four year school in St. Louis. During his tenure, Coach Waser coached 13 all conference players, two All-District players, and finished in the conference finals four of his five seasons. In his final year at Missouri Baptist, Joe was named Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Wasser, who is a 1989 graduate of Missouri Baptist University, finished his career at MBU with an overall record of 128-71.

Currently Joe supervises a team of 15 men and women at Labadie Power Plant and his responsibilities are to receive and disperse over ten million tons of coal yearly to fuel boilers.

Joe is happily married to Rhonda for 20 years. The couple has two sons and one daughter and is blessed with four granddaughters and three grandsons.

Missouri Baptist University Athletics will host the annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday, November 10th at 5:45 pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling (314) 392-2279.
