Track and Field Shines in the Sunflower State (April 24, 2006)
Lawrence Kansas may be the home of the Jayhawks, but it was a group of Spartans who flew away with several great performances at the 79th Kansas Relays. The small squad of Spartans finished with six event wins and 14 total top seven finishes in one of the premier meets of the Midwest. Baseball Takes One of Four From McK (April 24, 2006)
Missouri Baptist University fell three out of four games to cross town rival McKendree College over the weekend. By winning three of four games in the series from Missouri Baptist, McKendree put itself in the driver’s seat for the AMC regular-season championship. The Bearcats, who are ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, moved to 38-9 overall and 13-3 in the AMC. McKendree has a three-game lead on both Missouri Baptist and William Woods University in the league standings. Men's Volleyball Eliminated from Tourney Play (April 22, 2006)
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Sixth-seed Newman (Kan.) pulled off the first major upset of the 2006 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament Friday as the Jets knocked off third-seed Missouri Baptist 30-18, 25-30, 32-30, 30-26. With the win, Newman (1-1) secures second-place in Pool A and will take on second-seed and tournament host California Baptist at 7 p.m. tonight in the second semifinal. Men's Volleyball falls to Lindenwood at National Tourney (April 21, 2006)
RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The top-seed Lions of Lindenwood rolled past third-seed Missouri Baptist 30-18, 30-27, 30-27 in Pool B action Thursday night at the 2006 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Invitational Tournament. The win propels the Lions into the semifinals for the seventh straight tournament as they wrap up first place in Pool B and improve to 35-3 in the process. The Spartans drop to 19-8 and will play Newman (Kan.) tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. for a spot in the semifinals and the right to meet California Baptist.
