Track Concludes Regular Season
The MBU Men's and Women's Track & Field team ended their regular season this past weekend in strong fashion at the Central Missouri Classic. Many athletes made the most of this last opportunity to qualify for nationals. Margaret Nakintu had a strong day, winning the mile in a stadium record 4:45.63, the 800 in a stadium record 2:09.81, and anchoring the Distance Medley Relay to a stadium record 11:50.25. Ashley Harris and Kay-De Vaughn both jumped season bests in the triple jump, with Harris taking the event win. Coreen Ellis powered away from the field to claim an easy victory in the 600. Shernelle Nicholls continued her winning ways with a seasons best 47 foot throw in the shot put. Orlando Collins and Kenneth Kibii both had big victories in the 600 and 800 giving them national qualifying times. Duran Brown had a big breakthrough in the 60 to earn his national qualifier as well. Marquita Travis, Aundrea Taylor, Kemar Smith, and Jamauary Harris all had solid performances in the pentathlon for MBU.
MBU's next competition will be the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee on March 9-11.
