Basketball Teams Head Into Mid Season Break in National Polls (December 19, 2005)
The MBU men and women basketball teams head into the holiday break with a fast start to the first part of the season. The Men`s Basketball team is currently ranked 11th in the latest NAIA national polls that was released on December 14th. The Spartans are 12-4 on the season and had a nine game winning streak snapped by Maryville University-St. Louis on December 15th. The Spartans are next in action when they host Concordia Seminary on January 4th at 5:00 pm. The Spartans will look to defend their two time American Midwest Conference (AMC) title when they open conference…

Wrestlers Shine in Nebraska (December 12, 2005)
The Spartan Wrestling Team participated in the University of Nebraska Kearny Open on Saturday. The MBU coaches saw some highlights at the tournament. Placing fifth for MBU was John Wilcox at the 174 pound weight class. Wilcox defeated the #2 ranked NAIA Wrestler in the nation, Jake Stevenson of Morningside College by pin. Meeting National Qualification Standards was Jared Bonnell at Heavyweight. Bonnell placed fourth. The Spartans next travel to the University of Indianapolis on January 6th for the Midwest Classic where they will see more than 30 different opponents.…

Yehling Named Region V Coach of the Year (December 5, 2005)
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Missouri Baptist University Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, John Yehling, has been selected by the Tachikara/AVCA as the NAIA Region V Coach of the Year. Each of the region honorees will represent their region on the Tachikara/AVCA NAIA National Coach of the Year ballot. The awards will be officially presented at the Tachikara/AVCA Coach of the Year and Victory Club Awards Banquet in San Antonio on Thursday, December 15, at the 2005 American Volleyball Coaches Association Annual Convention. Wrestling Places Ninth at Simpson Invite (December 5, 2005)
The Missouri Baptist University Wrestling Team traveled to Simpson College (IA) to compete in the Simpson College Invitational. MBU's JT Taylor placed first in the 141 weight class. MBU's John Wilcox placed fourth in the 174lbs class. MBU's Cody Rouse placed sixth in the 157 weight class and Jared Bonnell placed fifth in the heavyweight division. MBU's John Wilcox received the award for most pins in the least amount of time. JT Taylor had the quickest pin of the meet with a pin in 15 seconds in the final match. Track & Field Opens Indoor Season Qualifying 17 for NAIA Nationals (December 5, 2005)
The Missouri Baptist University Track and Field Team blasted its way through its first competition at the University of Findlay. The Spartans opened their season by qualifying 17 athletes for the NAIA National Championships in 28 events. Qualifying on the men's side are Denis Bull-Olinga in the 3000m, Kemar Smith in the 60m hurdles and triple jump, Jerome Foster in the high jump and triple jump, and Gentel Sykes in the 60m hurdles. Women's Volleyball Falls in NAIA Final Four (December 3, 2005)
The Lady Spartans were defeated by Columbia College Saturday afternoon in the NAIA Final Four Match. Scores were 28-30, 22-30, 30-27, 23-30. MBU concludes their season with a 37-6 mark. Women's Volleyball Wins Opening Match at National Tourney (December 1, 2005)
Fifth-seeded Missouri Baptist University posted a 3-0 victory against host Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) in the first round of pool play at the NAIA National Tournament. MBU is 1-0 in pool play action. Individual games scores were 30-25, 30-27, and 30-22. Missouri Baptist hit .643 on the match, as Ana Mercado led the way with 22 kills. Brittany Lukasek added 10 kills. The Lady Spartans improved to 34-5 on the year. MBU will play Iowa Wesleyan University today at 11:15 am.…
