Spartan Wrestling Defeats SIU Edwardsville

The Men’s Wrestling team defeated SIU Edwardsville, winning by a score of 23 to 18. The Cougars would not go down quietly, it would come down to the final match of competition before MBU claimed victory.

Going into the final match, the team score was 23 MBU, 18 SIUE. MBU’s Nigel Kinworthy would take on Sean Tyus from SIUE in the final match. Any decision made for either MBU or SIUE would assure a victory for either team. The regular final match concluded with a 1 to 1 tie and forced the match into the first overtime. For three additional periods, the match remained tied 1 to 1, which forced the final match into a “sudden death”, 2nd overtime match.

MBU’s Nigel Kinworthy defeated his opponent Sean Tyus with a take down win his match outright and secure a victory for the team.

The Spartans will be in action again on December 5th when they take on Central Missouri State in a dual meet. Start time is 7:00PM.
