Baseball's Bahr Drafted by NY Yankees

Jesse Bahr, a senior left handed pitcher from Ferguson, MO, was drafted on the second day of the Major League Baseball Player draft on Wednesday, June 8. The New York Yankees tabbed Bahr in the 37th round.

“I am excited” stated Bahr. “I was kind of nervous all day long. Not really knowing what to expect. When I was drafted by the Yankees, that was a surprise because I had not really spoken with them recently.”

Bahr was a first team all conference selection, first team all region selection, and an honorable mention All American in the spring of 2005. He finished the season with an 8-4 record and a 3.03 era. Jesse had fourteen appearances (all starts) and six complete games to tie fellow senior Nathan Roush for the lead on the pitching staff. Bahr threw 77 innings and struck out 70 batters.

Jesse will leave immediately and report to Tampa, Florida to the Yankees “A” ball team.

Bahr is the fifth player drafted out of the Missouri Baptist University baseball program in the last three drafts. Out of the five players drafted, Jesse is the third pitcher.
