Baseball Clinches Birth In Region Tourney
The Spartans will advance to the Region V Tournament for the fifth time in six years after a one year hiatus. The Spartans will do so after beating Harris Stowe State College for the second time in as many days.
MBU opened up the day with McKendree College. A win against the Bearcats will guarantee the Spartans a trip to Region play. However, the Spartans got in the whole deep by a score of 6-0 and never recovered as they fell to the 8th ranked team in the land, 7-3. However, the Spartans bounced back and clobbered Harris Stowe 14-3 to clinch a birth in the Region V Tournament. The Spartans can still claim the AMC Tournament title if they beat McKendree twice today. If MBU losses one of two games then the AMC regular season title and the AMC post season title will go to the McKendree Bearcats.
The first game will be played at 11 am and the second game (if needed) will be played at 3 pm. Both games will be played on McKendree’s home field.
