Men's Golf Finishes 11th at NAIA National Tourney (May 31, 2005)
The Spartan Linksters made their second consecutive appearance at the NAIA National Golf Tournament and walked away from Olathe, KS with an 11th place overall finish. Johnson & Wales (FL) claimed the outright title. Chris Naegel was MBU's top individual finisher at 27th. His scores were: 75, 78, 69, & 75 for a final score of 297 (+9). Women's Track and Field Finishes 3rd at Nationals (May 29, 2005)
In one short year, Missouri Baptist went from not having a Track & Field program to earning a 3rd place trophy at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Despite being a team comprised almost entirely of freshmen, Head Coach Vince Bingham's Lady Spartans finished the meet with 4 National Champions, 14 All Americans, and a 3rd place trophy. On the final day of competition, the Lady Spartans marched through the field to earn their podium finish. Baseball's Bahr Drafted by NY Yankees (May 26, 2005)
Jesse Bahr, a senior left handed pitcher from Ferguson, MO, was drafted on the second day of the Major League Baseball Player draft on Wednesday, June 8. The New York Yankees tabbed Bahr in the 37th round. “I am excited” stated Bahr. “I was kind of nervous all day long. Not really knowing what to expect. When I was drafted by the Yankees, that was a surprise because I had not really spoken with them recently.” Bahr was a first team all conference selection, first team all region selection, and an honorable mention All American in the spring of 2005.…

Women's Track Glides Into Nationals (May 17, 2005)
The Missouri Baptist Women's Track & Field team closed out their regular season in style this past weekend. The Lady Spartans defeated 12 teams to win the Lindenwood Last Chance Meet. MBU garnered 8 event wins and a slew of national qualifying performances. The Lady Spartans earned national qualifying marks in 12 events: the 100, 200, and 400 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Run, 400 Meter Hurdles, 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 Meter Relay, Long Jump, Shot put, Discus, Javelin, and the Heptathlon. Baseball Concludes Season in Region Tourney (May 16, 2005)
The Missouri Baptist University Spartan Baseball team concluded their season with a 3-1 loss to Region V foe William Jewel College. The Spartans finished with a 40-24 season record. The Spartans trailed 2-1 in the eighth inning and then the skies opened up and delayed the game for more than 24 hours. When the game resumed, WJC posted one run in the remaining innings to advance on in tourney play. The Spartans gained the right to play in the Region V tourney by placing second in the AMC tournament behind McKendree College. MBU lost both games in the Region tournament…

Ralph Tiffany Will Be MBU's Next Golf Coach (May 10, 2005)
Missouri Baptist University Director of Athletics, Thomas Smith, has announced the hiring of Head Golf Coach, Ralph Tiffany. Coach Tiffany will assume the duties of both Head Men’s Coach and Head Women’s Coach of the Spartans’ Golf programs. Coach Tiffany is a long standing PGA Class “A” golf professional, who started is professional career in Kansas City, MO with stints in St. Louis, Arkansas, Colorado, and Arizona. Baseball Places Four On AMC First Team (May 9, 2005)
The Spartans had four individuals named to the 2005 American Midwest Conference First Team. The recipient’s names were released on Saturday after the AMC Championship Game. Among the First Team selections for MBU were; Jake McMurran (RHP), Jesse Bahr (LHP), Nathan Roush (RHP) and Pedro Perez (OF). The four MBU Stars helped lead the Spartans to a 40-22 record and a birth in the Region V Playoffs. MBU placed second in the AMC regular season and second in the AMC tournament. Softball's Crow Has Standout Season (May 9, 2005)
The Missouri Baptist University Softball team concluded their season at 17-17, but one individual had a season to remember. Meaghan Crow dominated for the Lady Spartans and it showed as the AMC coaches voted her as the leagues best. Crow broke four MBU records and tied one on her way to being named the 2005 American Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year and American Midwest Conference Player of the Year. Baseball Clinches Birth In Region Tourney (May 6, 2005)
The Spartans will advance to the Region V Tournament for the fifth time in six years after a one year hiatus. The Spartans will do so after beating Harris Stowe State College for the second time in as many days. MBU opened up the day with McKendree College. A win against the Bearcats will guarantee the Spartans a trip to Region play. However, the Spartans got in the whole deep by a score of 6-0 and never recovered as they fell to the 8th ranked team in the land, 7-3. Baseball Set To Take On Rival McKendree (May 5, 2005)
The Spartans took on a feisty first round AMC tourney opponent in Harris Stowe State College on Wednesday. Eddie Uschold and his Spartans came out victorious by a score of 8-7. The Spartans trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth, but got a two run home run from the good guys to take the one run lead (7-6). The Hornets came back and tied the score at seven in the top of the eighth (all tourney games are played nine innings), but the Spartans got the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth to prevail. Men's Golf Concludes Tourney Play With Many Honors (May 4, 2005)
The Spartan Men’s Golf Team concluded the 2005 Region Play with much success. The Spartans claimed the 2005 American Midwest Conference title, the 2005 NAIA Region V title and the 2005 squad will compete at the NAIA National Championships in Olathe, KS May 24th-27th. Several individual awards were also bestowed on the Spartans. Head Coach Randy Carstens was named 2005 AMC Coach of the Year and NAIA Region V Coach of the Year. Missouri Baptist University Director of Athletics, Thomas Smith, has announced the hiring of Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Pamella Goode. Coach Goode is a graduate of University of Bridgeport (CT) with a BA in Political Science.
