Tom Smith - Staff Profile
Director of Athletics, Asst. Professor of Education/Health & Sport Sciences
Thomas Smith assumed the duty of Director of Athletics at Missouri Baptist University in 2003. Before becoming the Athletic Director, Tom served as the Director of Admissions at MBU. Tom graduated from Parkway West Senior High School where he placed 5th in the Missouri High School State Wrestling Tournament. After high school, he wrestled 118 at Southeast Missouri State University. Tom has been involved in Missouri Wrestling for over 28 years, coaching at Kennedy, Desoto, Lindbergh, Parkway South, and Parkway West high schools. In addition, he also spent several years coaching little league wrestling. Tom is married to Merry, and has four children; Anna, Jonathan, Elisabeth, and Grace. Tom started the Missouri Baptist University Wresting program and served the program as Head Coach. His teams were continually ranked nationally and he has coached numerous All-Americans Mr. Smith holds a BA degree in Business Management, and a Secondary Teaching Certification in Social Studies from Missouri Baptist College. He earned an MS.Ed. from Southwest Baptist University, and attended Covenant Theological Seminary. Coach Smith is now pursuing an Ed.D. from Walden University.
Along with the duties of Athletic Director, Tom serves as an Assistant Professor in both the Education and Health & Sport Sciences divisions at MBU.
