Noll Billings - Staff Profile
Asst. Men's Basketball Coach
The MBU Assistant Men’s Basketball coach, Noll Billings, was born in Columbia, Missouri but has lived all over the United States - California, Louisiana, Kansas, and even Hawaii. There is only one place he considers his hometown – Kennett, Missouri. Kennett is a small community right on the Arkansas/Missouri border. Coach Billings was raised there for most of his childhood by his parents Ward and Jo Billings along with his sister and best friend, Legan Moore, who is married and teaching Elementary Education in Kansas City, Mo.
Noll credits his family as being the rock that has supported him throughout his life. “Never anywhere close to perfect, yet we always made up for our shortcomings with hard work and love.” His mother is an Art Teacher and his father is a former F.B.I. agent and Karate Sensei who has settled down as a Middle School Principal.
Coach Billings grew up competing in any sport that was available, but found most of his success in swimming, football and basketball. He also has a passion for music and poetry and enjoys a variety of interests in extreme sports. “Unfortunately, these interests usually leave me with more broken bones than medals or trophies!”
After high school, Noll was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to play basketball at Missouri Baptist University, where he received a Bachelors of Arts and continues to work toward his Master’s Degree in Classroom Teaching.
Coach Billings was a three year staring point guard and two-time Team Captain under previous MBU Head Coach Tony Tompkins. During that time, the MBU Men’s Basketball Team won two conference titles and went to the NAIA National Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
Noll has coached Swim Team in Kennett for five seasons with Coach Brent Car, where the kids won three conference titles and he and Coach Car were awarded the conference coaches of the year in 2004. Coach Billings has also worked as a personal trainer here in St. Louis for three years and opened Maui Muscle Personal Training in Maui, Hawaii with long time friend and P.T. director Bron Wilkerson. He finds personal training and coaching to be extremely similar.
Coach Billings has various goals in life. He is excited to be a part of of a great basketball program here at Missouri Baptist. He wants to continue to grow mentally, spiritually, and physically in every aspect of life. He still wants to see everything the world has to offer, ride the biggest waves, read every book in the library, and live every day like it was his first and last.
Noll considers it both an honor and privilege to be able to coach basketball. It has been a part of his life that has helped shape him into the person he is today - “It is my prayer that I am able to have a similar impact upon the lives of the student athletes here at Missouri Baptist University.”
