Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
As I sit in my office tying up loose ends this week before heading home for Christmas Break I feel as if I should have something wise to say to wrap up another year. The problem is I don't feel I have anything earth shattering to share. God, as always, has blessed me, my family, and the greater MBU family in so many ways.
Even though there have been trying times and small setbacks this past year I still have more than I ever deserve. I think God has really been teaching me the value of appreciating everyday life. Nothing too bad has happened this year and I haven't had any major great things happen either, but the year has been great. My family is healthy and will be together for the holidays. My wife found a great job at MBU. My children are both doing great in school. I still thoroughly enjoy my job at MoBap. I love working with all of the students in the various ministry groups and I always look forward to catching up with all of my alumni friends.
Now, we are still trying to sell our house. We are still looking for a church home that meets our families needs. The I-64 project will probably make our commute twice as long as it already is. I could go on and on. The simple truth is this, life is full of ups and downs, good times and bad. There is always going to be someone who has it better than us, but there are plenty who don't come close to having all that we have. Most importantly, I have a God who has promised to be with me through all of it. That's really all that matters.
My prayer for you this upcoming year is that God makes it as clear to you as He is trying to make it clear to me. Take every day, the blessings and joy, as well as the setbacks and sorrow, as a gift from God. Enjoy life and live it to the fullest. Live your life as your Christmas gift to Him this upcoming year.
Have a truly blessed holiday season.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
