Alumni Awards

 

The Awards Committee recently selected five standout alumni to receive the Alumni Associations's prestigous awards:

  • Distinguished Alumni Award: Merry Smith, B.S. Business Administration '00, M.B.A. '11
  • Distinguished Alumni Award: Clarence Duvall, B.A. Behavioral Science '81
  • Service to the University Award: Faith Smith, B.A. Music Education '75
  • Outstanding Young Alumni Award: Jeff Ewing, B.A. Business Administration & B.S. Sports Management '99
  • Educator of the Year Award: Brian Kruger, M.S. in Education '06 & M.B.A. '07

    • All recipients will receive their awards at Alumni Chapel on Thursday, April 12.  Alumni are welcome to join us at Alumni Chapel to see the presentation on April 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pillsbury Chapel and Dale Williams Fine Arts Center.

     

     

    Nominations:

    Do you know a Missouri Baptist University graduate who deserves special recognition? Please help us honor the notable achievements and contributions of our alumni by nominating them for the following awards and recognitions.   For more information about any of the awards listed below, please contact the Alumni Office at 314-744-7695 or alumni@mobap.edu.

    Awards will be given during Alumni Chapel on April 12, 2012.  Nominees must attend Alumni Chapel in order to receive their award.

    Nominations are due by February 10, 2012.  The Awards Committee will meet in February to discuss the nominations.  Awardees will be notified by the end of February.

    Distinguished Alumni Award
    The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes individuals who have gained unique distinction through their accomplishments and have brought positive change through their leadership.

    Criteria:

    • Must be distinguished among his/her peers for contributions made to society that display leadership, responsibility and expertise in his/her field of endeavor 
    • Must have record of community involvement 
    • Must have demonstrated continuing interest in and support of Missouri Baptist University through contribution of time, talent or resources 
    • Must uphold the standards of Missouri Baptist University

    Service to the University Award    *
    The Service to the University Award is presented to an alumna or alumnus whose volunteer efforts enhance the mission of the Missouri Baptist University. 

    Criteria:

    • Must be a person of integrity and demonstrated ability who brings dignity and inspiration to the faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of Missouri Baptist University 
    • Must have demonstrated continuing interest in and support of Missouri Baptist University through contribution of time, talent or resources 
    • Must uphold the standards of Missouri Baptist University

    Outstanding Young Alumnus Award    *
    The Alumni Board recognizes that many young alumni have enjoyed significant achievements in the few years since their graduation, although they may not yet have reached the height of their accomplishments.

    Criteria:

    • This award shall be limited to alumni of Missouri Baptist University who have not reached their 36th birthday before the date on which the Award is presented.
    • Must be distinguished among his/her peers for contributions made to society that display leadership, responsibility and expertise in his/her field of endeavor 
    • Must have record of community involvement 
    • Must have demonstrated continuing interest in and support of Missouri Baptist University through contribution of time, talent or resources 
    • Must uphold the standards of Missouri Baptist University

    Educator of the Year Award*
    Since its inception, the Education Division has graduated more alumni than any other division.   Nominees display excellence in their hard work and dedication and contribution to the positive development of our youth.  

    Criteria:

    • Must demonstrate strong ability to foster excellence in education as evidenced by ongoing contributions  to the improvement of student learning and the learning environment;
    • Must be distinguished among his/her peers for contributions made to society that display leadership, responsibility and expertise in education 
    • Must have demonstrated continuing interest in and support of Missouri Baptist University through contribution of time, talent or resources 
    • Must uphold the standards of Missouri Baptist University

    Christian Service Award*
    The Christian Service Award recognizes a lifetime of exemplary service in a ministry, missions, or a service setting. It is presented to an alumnus of the University whose life’s work best reflects the unique quality of service and sacrifice to others, consistent with MBU’s mission and values.

    Criteria:

    • Must be dedicated to developing the life of Christ in others, cultivating a pursuit of Christ-centered thinking and daily lifestyle that honors Him.
    • Must be distinguished among his/her peers for contributions made to society that display leadership, responsibility and expertise in his/her field of endeavor 
    • Must have record of community involvement 
    • Must have demonstrated continuing interest in and support of Missouri Baptist University through contribution of time, talent or resources 
    • Must uphold the standards of Missouri Baptist University
