| General Access Computer Labs: 8 Total student-use computers: 100 |
Each technological advance remodels not only the professional world but also the world of education. We understand the need to learn with the same equipment and programs used in professional industries. In addition, we see the advantage of using software that can increase the learning curve of our students. Because of this, the University’s systems are continuously updated to ensure that our students are on the cutting edge.
Every full-time student receives a network account, allowing them to use MBU e-mail, the web, and any service offered through the campus network. Each classroom, dorm room, and lab is wired to this network. Computer labs are found in nearly every building on campus, including residence halls and the library, with a Macintosh lab also available.
A number of smart classrooms are equipped with multi-media presentation technology for both student and faculty use. Class presentations can be conducted by Microsoft Power Point, which is sometimes required. Communication students edit video with AVID systems, chemistry students tackle molecular structuring with SGI, and music students enhance composition and ear training with composing tools. And this is just a sample!
While having your own PC is not a necessity, bringing your own laptop or computer can maximize their computing ability, especially in the dorm room. Resident students can then work on a late-night assignments, research for a class, or merely surf the web with immediate internet access from the convenience of their room.
