Why did you choose MBU?
The University looked appealing when I first learned about it and when I tried out for basketball the coaching staff were pretty cool guys. I was also impressed with the commitment to their Christian beliefs. The smaller size of the campus and student body allowed me to transition well after growing up in a small town.
What has, to date, been your favorite MBU event?
That’s a tough choice between Welcome Weekend and The Perk. I’ve had so many fun times here, but Welcome Weekend probably wins. That may also be due to the fact that it is a whole weekend long. : )
What defines you?
God sent His son Jesus Christ to Earth to live a perfect life and die for my sins. That’s the first and most important thing. Other than that, I like people and being pretty much as sociable as possible.
How does caffeine interrelate with your life?
Hmm… I don’t drink coffee and I try to stay away from soda until I am exhausted and need energy for an event or late night papers/studying.
Favorite spot in St. Louis?
Creve Coeur Memorial Park
How has MBU allowed you to experience your faith?
MBU has a ton of opportunities to learn about God and form groups that will help you grow in your walk with Christ. I became involved with Campus Crusade for Christ when I first arrived and it/the people in the organization has helped me mature so much and focus my life on following what I believe. Pastor J. White is a great guy who will hang out with us and offer help whenever needed. The Christian staff make the campus a great place to just hang out because people will smile and be friendly whenever you walk by. Now I’m not saying the students always do, but hey you win some, you lose some. : ) All in all, if someone is honestly interested finding out who God is, then all they have to do is apply themselves. It’s pretty cool.
Favorite place to spend time at MBU?
Most definitely in the Student Activities/Student Government office, or in the cafeteria just hanging out with random groups of people.
Favorite thing to do on a Thursday night?
I’m either at basketball practice or going to The Source with Campus Crusade for Christ at Maryville.
What’s a typical weekend like for you?
Well generally I go home to spend the weekends with my family and lead worship at my church But if I do stay here, it is to run events that we have occasionally. If there are no events, and I just run out of gas money, then I sleep a lot and think about doing homework. : P
Who is your hero? Why?
I think I’m going to go with Jesus Christ on this one, Bob. He’s the one who I look to and strive to be like. But coming in at second place would definitely be my dad because he is just an amazing guy that has taught me so much on how to be a Godly man.
Describe your Welcome Weekend experience.
Wow that was a long time ago… I thoroughly (hey big word!) enjoyed W.W. and all the events that SAC had planned for us. Although I am pretty out-going, it “forced” me to have to get to know some people, real quick-like. So I had a good time and it definitely jump started my year and got me ready for what MBU had to offer.
Where do you live (with roommates, parents, apartment, etc)?
I have lived in the dorms both years here. I kept two of the same suitemates this year and got a new roommate.
Home’s three hours away or I would definitely be saving the money and commuting… (thinking look) no… the dorms are awesome and I would recommend everyone to stay there! : )
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A fireman…? No a policeman…! Superman? Haha… I want to be an elementary teacher in my hometown, coach the basketball team there, and start working with the youth at my church to impact that community.
What's an interesting fact about you?
I am petrified of paper-cuts? Other than that, I guess the real one would be that I have had skin cancer twice and have a condition called Basal Cell Carcinoma Nevus Syndrome, which means I can’t go out in the sun and I have lots of doctors : P)
