- If a student is from a country where English is the ONLY
primary language:

The student will be enrolled according to the evaluation of a placement essay

- If a student is from a country where English is one of two
(2) or more primary languages:
- The TOEFL is not required for students from one of these countries. However, whether or not the TOEFL is taken, the student will be enrolled according to the evaluation of a placement essay written by the student upon arrival at MBU.
- If a student is from any other non-English-speaking countries,
the TOEFL is required prior to admission to the university
and issuance of an I-20.
- If the minimum TOEFL score of 500 is achieved:
- The student will be enrolled according to the evaluation of a placement essay written by the student upon arrival at MBU.
- If a minimum TOEFL score of 430 is achieved the student will be enrolled in the Intensive English tract for International Students.
- If the minimum TOEFL score of 430 is not met, the student will be denied admission to Missouri Baptist University.
- **Under no circumstances will a student be admitted without
TOEFL results, if they are from a non-English-speaking country!!**
- If the minimum TOEFL score of 500 is achieved:
- If a student currently lives (legally), or
has previously lived (legally), in the United States for a period of two or more years,
he/she is not required to take the TOEFL. However:
- The student will be enrolled according to the evaluation of a placement essay written by the student upon arrival at MBU.
