The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

DESE is the administrative arm of the State Board of Education. It is primarily a service agency that works with educators, legislators, government agencies and citizens to maintain a strong public education system.
The University is approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Jefferson City, Missouri, for requirements in general education and certification for elementary and secondary teachers; the training of veterans under Public Law 550 and 894, 82nd Congress; and for the training of sons and daughters of deceased veterans under the War Orphan's Educational Assistance Act
National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)

NCATE is the recognized national accreditation body for programs in teacher education. The performance-based system of evaluation fosters competent classroom teachers and other educators who work to improve the education of students--from preschool through grade 12.

The Sport Management Program Review Council
The Sport Management Program Review Council (SMPRC) is a representative council formed jointly through the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) , an association of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance , and the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).
The mission of the SMPRC is to establish program standards and to conduct the program review process for institutions seeking approval of sport management programs at bachelors, masters, and/or doctoral levels. The SMPRC announced in the summer of 2005 that MBU was in full compliance with its sport management program standards.
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
Recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is the largest programmatic accreditor in the health sciences field. In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2000 educational programs in twenty (20) health science occupations. The Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) falls under the auspices of the CAAHEP. The primary role of the CoAES is to establish standards and guidelines for academic programs that facilitate the preparation of students seeking employment in the health, fitness, and exercise industry. The secondary role of the CoAES is to establish and implement a process of self-study, review, and recommendation for all programs seeking CAAHEP accreditation. Programmatic accreditation through CAAHEP is specifically intended for Exercise Science or related departments (Physical Education, Kinesiology, etc.) with a professional preparation tract designed for students seeking employment opportunities in the health, fitness, and exercise industry. All necessary accreditation standards mandated by the CoAES were met by MBU in the fall of 2008. The exercise science program was subsequently accredited by the CAAHEP in the summer of 2009, one of only 18 programs nationally to have earned this accreditation and acclaim.
