| Can a list of MBU library items I currently have checked-out be viewed online? |
Yes.
- Go to the Jung-Kellogg Library page.
- Click on MBU Online Public Access Catalog
- At the left-hand bottom of the page under Other Options, click on View Your Patron Record.
- In the Your Name box, type in your name.
- In the Campus I.D. box type in your social security number or unique I.D. number without any dashes or spaces followed by a capital MBC.
- Click on Items Currently Checked-Out to view the record.

| Can I access the library subscription databases from home? |
Yes.
- A Username and Password must first be established.
- On the Jung-Kellogg Library page, scroll down to Related Information.
- Under Related Information click on Off-Campus Access to Databases.
- A Username and Password page will appear.
- Enter the Username and Password that has been established through the Main Campus library computers. (Students from the extension sites may use the generic Username and Password provided by their site coordinator or professor.)
- Click on Log-In.
- The next page will list the subscription databases.

| How do I locate library materials? |
- Go to the library web page
- Under Find a Book click on MBU Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), MBU’s Online Card Catalog.
- Search the OPAC by Keyword, Subject, Author, or Title
- If a desired item is not available through the MBU (OPAC), search the Bridges or MOBIUS online catalogs.

| How do I log-on to the computers at the extension sites? |
- Contact the site coordinator or the professor for the particular extension site’s User Name and Password.

| How do I log-on to the Main Campus library computers? |
- All students, faculty, and staff MUST HAVE A CURRENT MBU I.D. from the I.T. Department. The I.D. allows access to campus computers and library borrowing privileges.
- Logging on to the Main Campus library computers for the first time:
- Username: Use the number under the picture on the Student I.D.
- Password: Enter the word password, all in lower case letters
- A prompt will appear to change password to a user’s personal password. User’s personal password must be 8 characters long, all lower case. Numbers may be used in place of letters.
- If a problem occurs while establishing a personal password, contact the I.T. Department at (314) 392-2377.

| How do I request books from other lending institutions such as Bridges or MOBIUS? |
- There are two ways to request books through other lending institutions.
- Patrons may come to the Main Campus library and print a page containing the desired title.
- Take it to the library’s Circulation Desk and the circulation librarians will request the inter-library loan for the patron.
or
- On the Bridges or MOBIUS catalog pages, select the Request This Item button at the bottom of the item record. (To expedite delivery, it is suggested that items should first be requested from lending institutions within the Bridges cluster.)
- In the Your Name box patrons type their name.
- In the Campus I.D. box patrons should type their unique I.D. number without any dashes or spaces followed by MBU.

| How long can books requested from other institutions be checked-out? |
- Books may be checked out for 21 days.
- Books may be renewed twice after the initial check-out as long as there is NO HOLD on the item.
- Overdue or lost items result in substantial fines.

| How long can MBU library materials be check-out? |
- Books—three weeks and may be renewed if not on HOLD.
- Periodicals—one week and may be renewed if not on HOLD. Cannot check-out the most current issue.
- Reference Works—cannot check-out; must remain in the library.

| How many MBU library materials can be checked-out at a time? |
- A total of 10 items at a time
- Limit of 4 books on the same topic
- Limit of 3 periodicals the same topic
- AV materials by special permission

| What if I forget my password or my password will not work? |
- Contact the I.T. Department: (314) 392-2377.

| What is the difference between MBU’s library catalog and the catalogs of Bridges and MOBIUS? |
- MBU’s library catalog or OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) displays materials that are available at the Main Campus Jung-Kellogg Library and the extension site libraries.

- Bridges is a cluster or collection sharing consortium of nine academic institutions that includes Missouri Baptist University.

| Can a book from another lending institution be put on a faculty member’s Reserve List? |
NO.
- If a faculty member needs a certain item that is not in the MBU library collection, it may be requested through MBU’s Director of Library Services, Ms. Nitsa Hindeleh.
- Contact Ms. Hindeleh at: hindeleh@mobap.edu with the correct author’s name, title, and publisher.

| Can a faculty member review their class Reserve List online? |
Yes.
- Go to the Jung-Kellogg Library page.
- Click on MBU Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
- Go to the right-hand bottom of the page.
- Under Options click on View Reserves by Instructor
- Type in the faculty member’s name.

- Under Options click on View Reserves by Course Name
- Type the course name.
- If items have been properly requested to be put on Reserve, a Reserved List of items will appear.

| How does a faculty member place items on Reserve for their class? |
- Contact Jeri Schmidt or Linda Webb at (314)392-2320 or by e-mail (circdsk@mobap.edu) with a bibliographic list of items.
- Include the following in the bibliographic list:
Faculty member’s name
The course number
Specify how long the items are to be on reserve
Specify how the items are to circulate—“library use only”, “overnight
check-out”, “two-day check-out”, “one week check-out”, etc.
- Allow 24 hours for the Reserves to be processed before telling the students that items are available on Reserve.
- Faculty will be contacted at the end of each semester regarding the cancellation or continuation of the Reserved items.

| How does a faculty member schedule a library orientation for their class? |
- On Main Campus contact the Reference Librarians, Lynne Koestner or Fred McKinney at (314) 392-2340.
- For Extension Site classes, contact the Site Dean first; a library orientation will then be scheduled.

| How long can a faculty or staff member check-out MBU library materials? |
- A full semester
- If a faculty or staff member finishes with the item(s) before the check-out period expires, it is respectfully requested that the item(s) be returned for continued circulation.

| What if an MBU faculty member wants a book for their class but the MBU library does not have a copy? |
- Books or AV items that enhance and improve class presentations may be ordered through the MBU library.
