Lieden

Leiden, the Netherlands, is located approximately 30 miles from Amsterdam by train. Leiden has the distinction of being the oldest and largest university town in the Netherlands, which fosters an environment of shops, cafes and cultural opportunities that serve the students who make up a large portion of the town's population. Leiden's many attractions and amenities are accessible by foot, but students often rent or purchase a bicycle to make commuting through town quicker and more convenient. Next to walking, bicycling is the most popular form of transit.

As the only American education in Leiden offering graduate and undergraduate degrees, Webster University enjoys the many advantages of being in a town whose primary business is students. Located along one of Leiden's many canals, the Webster campus houses classrooms, offices, a library, and a student lounge. Our class sizes are small, and the personal environment fits well into this compact and intellectually rich community.

Webster-Leiden’s distinguished professors bring real-world experience to the subjects they teach. Faculty members include Dr. Fatos Tarifa, the Albanian Ambassador to the Court of the Netherlands, who reaches history and politics; and Professor Phyllis Hamilton, Deputy Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Peace Palace in The Hague, who teaches international business and law.

The University offers a one-year cultural immersion program designed to take advantage of Leiden’s unique position in the heart of Europe. It exposes students to wide range of cultural opportunities and first-hand experiences. Courses often include visits to cultural points of interest ranging from the Amsterdam Documentary Film Festival and wine regions in France to museums in Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, and Spain.

There is also a rich array of internships available with international businesses and organizations in The Hague and surrounding communities. All internships require a full semester to complete.

All credit hours earned will be accepted, according to current catalog, for those students seeking degrees at MBU.
