The following courses help prepare students for entry level positions in sport management:

SMGT 113 INTRODUCTION TO SPORT MANAGEMENT - Introduction to the discipline of sport management and its vast array of career opportunities.

SMGT 223 SPORT MANAGEMENT PRACTICUM - Integrates coursework with planned and supervised professional experiences for a minimum of 15 hours per week.

SMGT 253 TOURNAMENT AND EVENT MANAGEMENT - An introduction into the planning processes necessary to stage a sporting event with emphases placed on creating and locating the event, welcoming spectators and participants, and developing pertinent timelines and operational objectives for the event.

SMGT 263 COMMUNICATION IN SPORT - Addresses a variety of communication-related topics, including public relations, image, media relations, and community relations.

SMGT 323 GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP IN SPORT - Focuses on the understanding of the concepts of management and leadership and introduces student to the governing bodies in sport.

SMGT 423/523 LEGAL ISSUES IN SPORT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - Concepts of tort law, constitutional law, and statutory law are discussed.

SMGT 373 SPORT MARKETING - Addresses content areas such as corporate sponsorships, ticket sales, broadcast agreements, promotional events, and direct marketing in the sport entertainment, sport participation, and sport goods sectors of the industry.

SMGT 463/563 SPORT FINANCE - Introduces the sport management student to financial challenges, financial statements, financial planning, and related issues within sport organizations.

SMGT 476 INTERNSHIP - Students spend the equivalent of full-time employment in an appropriate agency for a total of no less than 400 hours.

SMGT 483 SENIOR SEMINAR - Students develop a management, professional, and personal philosophy of sport management. Resumes, job searches, graduate school programs, and entry-level job requirements and expectations for future sport managers are addressed.

EDSM 413/513 SPORT FACILITY MANAGEMENT - Focuses on various aspects of facility management, such as mission development, funding and budget, site selection/planning/design, floor surfaces, risk management, equipment purchase and maintenance, and personnel management.

KINE 323 SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY - A basic understanding of the developments, trends, and social processes that explain sport and participation in physical activity today.

SMGT 433/533 PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY  - Explores the observations descriptions, and explanations of various psychological and physiological factors that influence diverse aspects of sport and physical activity.
