Mission Statement: In accordance with the mission statement
of Missouri Baptist University, the academic program, and the
worship arts discipline, the Worship Arts major focuses on preparing
students for careers in the worship leadership and support within
the church or a related setting. To complement specific interests,
the following minors are recommended: Church Music,
Technical Communications, Music, Religion, Religious
Education, and Theatre.

Course Descriptions
WORA 371 WORSHIP PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP
This workshop will provide hands-on experiences in worship
leadership skills; including but not limited to directing, organizing
and performing in worship teams and various ensembles, worship
technology, and drama experiences.
One hour, Fall
WORA 381 WORSHIP ARTS SEMINAR
This seminar will provide experiences in worship planning,
leadership, and support. Will include hands-on experiences
and guest worship leaders and artists.
One hour, Spring
MUWA 463 WORSHIP HISTORY AND LEADERSHIP
This course comprises a study of the history of worship and the
Biblical perspectives and principles in developing effective worship,
and the history, significance, and use in religious services of
congregational song (hymnology). An emphasis will be the worship
leader’s role in worship service preparation, strategic planning and
organization, and ethics involved in Worship Arts.
Three Hours, Fall
WORA 471 WORSHIP PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP
This workshop will provide hands-on experiences in worship
leadership skills; including but not limited to directing, organizing
and performing in worship teams and various ensembles, worship
technology, and drama experiences. Prerequisite: WORA 371.
May be repeated for credit.
One hour, Fall
WORA 481 WORSHIP ARTS SEMINAR
This seminar will provide experiences in worship planning,
leadership, and support. Will include hands-on experiences and
guest worship leaders and artists. Prerequisite: WORA 381.
May be repeated for credit.
One hour, Spring
WORA 483 EMERGING TRENDS IN WORSHIP
A study of the current trends in worship ministry as well as
development of modern worship styles. This course will review
the contemporary worship movement including blended styles,
worship evangelism, building and managing a worship team, the
use of multi-media and drama in worship, and sound system and
lighting design. Prerequisite: MUWA 463.
