Affiliation with professional organizations provides our faculty and students with excellent opportunities, experiences, and networking with others. Four professors and twenty-four students went to the national Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. They attended a variety of workshops that dealt with topics that are at the forefront of concern for educators. Some of the workshops they attended were on Classroom Management, Care Groups, No Child Left Behind Act, Developing Curriculum, and Middle School Science. The highlight was the keynote speech made by Nichole Brewer to the leaders of Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. They were captivated by her enthusiasm and inspiring message about the difference ASCD was making in the lives of pre-service teachers by creating the student chapters that act as a conduit to unleash the power, passion and promise. They responded by giving her a standing ovation. |
