The Gradebook hosts all student grades and information associated with tests, assignments and surveys. When instructors create tests, assignments, or surveys, an entry is automatically made in the Gradebook.
Viewing the Gradebook
-
From the Control Panel of your module choose Gradebook
-
The View Spreadsheet page should appear.

The Gradebook sets the names of the tests, surveys or assignments across the screen, with the students names down the screen. -
Under each test, survey, or assignment name there will be a symbol or a figure (if the student has taken the test). These symbols are explained below.

Padlock = in progress (student is taking the test)
- = no information (student hasn't attempted the test)
! = Needs grading (the tutor needs to manually mark a question)
? = Grading error (Something has gone wrong with the test submission)
A tick = Completed
A asterisk = Non visible item (test may have been deleted) -
If there is a grade visible for a student, clicking on the grade will open the Modify Grade screen

-
Clicking on View allows the tutor to access the student's attempt (except surveys these are anonymous). Instructors can then make changes to the marks allocated.
Evaluating questions
It is possible to view the test questions and evaluate them, using Blackboard, for example Blackboard can tell you how many students chose an answer. To do this
-
Go into the Control Panel then the Gradebook.
-
Click on the test name that you wish to view.
-
This will open an Item Options page, click on the option Assessment Attempt Details.

-
The instructor can then view the number of attempt and data regarding questions, i.e. 10% chose A and 90% chose B. If A is the correct answer this informs the instructor that they need to repeat this particular piece of information, as no one understood it.
