The successful candidate will gain a wide range of media relations experience throughout the academic year, which will prepare said person for a successful career in collegiate sports information/athletic media relations. Primary duties will include serving as the main contact for several MBU athletic teams, to be assigned by the Sports Information Director, while assisting with event operations at assigned games. As the primary contact, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the web site (www.mbuspartans.com) for his/her respective sports, writing press releases, updating bios and statistics, and archiving photos for each sport. Additional duties will include assisting the Sports Information Department with all aspects of media relations, including game-day management, and select research/archiving projects.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an undergraduate degree in communications, public relations or a related field. A minimum of one-year experience in a university media relations department or a professional athletic environment is strongly preferred. Applicant should be knowledgeable with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Prior experience with Dakstats or StatCrew is preferred, along with a working knowledge of online social media. Applicant must be able to multi-task various assignments and work under deadline pressure, and be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights/weekends and/or holidays during peak seasons.
